Home August 1, 2007 - Oasis Amid Anxiety
“Oh, the quiet times, the times when I feel a little closer to the calmness, are really special. Which is why, despite really pressing things I needed to do yesterday afternoon…I said to mom, ‘Can we take a play day?’”
When anxiety about her terminal cancer threatens to overwhelm her, Lovelle Svart sometimes visits a place she calls “the bridge” — a wooden footbridge over a creek in a woodsy park less than half a mile from her apartment.
“A little bit of peace in the middle of the city,” she said on a recent Thursday morning.
“This is where Mom and I come to talk,” she said. “A place like this is part of the joy you can experience even when you’re in pain and you don’t have a whole lot longer.”

You are so brave and I admire your sense of humor and spirit. I lost my 2 sisters from lung cancer. I miss them so very much. Get that ‘quiet’ time you need. God bless!
I admire and am inspired by your courage and ‘light’ as you share your most intimate journey. Thank you, Anita
